Shredding In Heaven

December 8th, 2004 saw one of the greatest guitarists in history struck down when Dimebag Darrell was murdered on stage by a deranged fan. I was lucky enough to be able to photograph Dime with Damageplan just a week and a half prior in New York. I was just learning how to shoot and, frankly, wish I could have done much better than these two images. But I think I still captured him the way he was - lost in his music in the image above and having a helluva good time in the one below. I consider myself lucky enough to have been so close to the stage, to see him do this thing and to hear his artistry while he had so much fun rocking out and kicking ass. He may be gone, but the music and the memories will last forever. RIP Dime.

DoubleDrive, Mulcahy's 2003

One of my favourite photos that I have ever taken, I no longer have the original file - just this dumbed down jpg. Sonofagun. And the band wasn't the greatest to boot, but I just happened to grab a great, introspective moment in an otherwise frenetic rock set.

Hello, And Welcome!

This will be a ... well, I'm not sure what it will be. I am thinking this blog will be an forum for my passion for music. I already have a place where I indulge in my obsession for hockey (Scotty Hockey) so why not? I have written or shot for a half dozen or so music-related websites and rarely can be found without my iPod.

I believe it will primarily have concert photography and music reviews - both new and old - but that is subject to change. Hang in there, check back every now and again and find out!
